A hidden Jewel on this Hawke's Bay coast is Porangahau Beach, a vast area of Beach, sand dunes and river system. This provides a wonderful area for walking, fishing, contemplation and rejuvenation far from the madding crowds. Overlooking all this in a great seaside aspect is The Beachfrontinn.
Porangahau retains a great Maori tradition as well, with its own Marae, has the worlds longest place name, despite what the Welsh may say, and other maori cultural aspects to be explored.
How to get there
Take highway 2 from either Wellington or Napier. At Waipukurau turn off to Porangahau on route 52. From Porangahau 6kms to Porangahau Beach, stay on Beach Road to Number 62 sitting on the Beach front.
