Modern, central, clean, but not the quietest apartment
A modern, clean, purpose-built rental apartment business, well located adjacent to the historic old town of St. Flour. The apartment was well equipped. The only items missing for us were a kettle and wine glasses (wine out of a tumbler never tastes as good!). The bed was comfortable. Being in town, you have to accept traffic noise, which bothered us despite using ear plugs. But free public parking next to the building and walking access to the town was a compensation. Residents are also offered the use of a small gym, with machines, and an outdoor terrace for an evening drink, which has views of the town and surrounding hills. There is a large supermarket (Intermarché) below the monument to Georges Pompidou, St Flour is a characterful old town, perched on an outcrop of rock, untouched, with an impressive cathedral and with commanding views over the surrounding countryside. It was very busy when we visited, despite Covid, with street music to entertain the al fresco diners on several corners. We watched the nightly “son et lumière “ performance, projected onto the facade of the cathedral - very impressive computer effects, but we were hoping for more history.
