Set in an area of outstanding natural beauty in the Duddon Valley, Riverside Cottage ticks every box - a rolling river nearby, majestic fells/mountains to all sides, a most traditional Cumbrian Cottage, with a fabulous log burner, many original features, and yet lovingly restored to a bespoke standard. There's a local pub in walking distance. There's plenty of walks nearby, from gentle strolls to quite high intensity fell climbing. There are also many cycle routes and the area is a favourite with both cyclists and mountain bikers. There is a store room at the cottage for outdoors wear, boots and bikes. You’ll love Riverside for the ambiance, the outdoors space, the peace and tranquility of being close to nature, the space and time to relax. It's good for couples, singles, families, and a...Set in an area of outstanding natural beauty in the Duddon Valley, Riverside Cottage ticks every box - a rolling river nearby, majestic fells/mountains to all sides, a most traditional Cumbrian Cottage, with a fabulous log burner, many original features, and yet lovingly restored to a bespoke standard. Beautifully presented cottage in the most wonderful location. I didn’t want to move from the armchair by the patio doors looking out over the fells! It was chilly outside when we arrived but the heating was on and it felt so homely...thank you for sharing...More

We love the Duddon Valley and this was the perfect base for exploring it, with beautiful walks straight from the door, and an easy (if slightly hair-raising) drive into Eskdale if you fancy taking on one of the BIG peaks. We did Scafell and sat...More

About the neighbourhood
Riverside is located inside the picturesque Duddon Valley, with beautiful fields and fells on every side. Outstanding scenery awaits with golden walks straight from the door, and happily quite a few finish at the local pub, The Newfield Inn, about a mile away from the cottage.
Getting around
A car is essential to appreciate the local area and get about easily. There is no rural bus service. The nearest train station is Foxfield, about 8 miles away where trains can be caught to Millom and Barrow in Furness and as far north as Carlisle for those wanting to explore farther afield.
