Glad you enjoyed it and sorry we were so busy with the horses we didn't have much time so socialize. April and May are our busiest months with foalings and stud visits so we do suffer from lack of sleep! Best wishes Jane

About the neighbourhood
Normandy is an area with an important history and one entwined with that of Britain. William the Conqueror was born at Falaise and the castle is open to the public and provides a very interesting tour. After 1066, great Norman families had estates on both sides of the channel and most of the English aristocracy were in fact Norman. This did not stop the wars between England and Normandy which continued on and off until Normandy became a province ruled directly by Paris. There is much evidence of this turbulent history in the architecture and castles in the area.

In more recent times, the summer of 1944 marked the beginning of the end of World War II but for Normandy it was a time of destruction. The D-Day beaches are sites which mark the event of the landings with museums and exhibitions....
