Holiday Rental House -
4 Bedrooms , 2 Bathrooms , Sleeps 8
Bellac, Haute-Vienne, Nouvelle-Aquitaine
This unique house dates back to the 15th Century and has been carefully conserved, retaining original features including floorboards, tiles and wattle and daub walls.

The house is built on the site of a 10th century château belonging to the Counts of March. It commands spectacular views over the Vincou valley.

There are also electric radiators in this and other rooms.

There is a small walled terrace to the rear, facing south-west with wonderful views over the Vincou valley and the railway viaduct. Patio set for 8.

This property was so different. Amazing views over the valley. Loved every minute! The area was really beautiful.

A fascinating and quirky rental. On arrival, we were somewhat nonplussed by the age of the building and its eccentricities, but we soon settled in and found it to be clean and comfortable, as well as constantly entertaining. The view from the terrace is lovely....More

This is a large, incredible quirky, unique and unusual property, and I cannot recommend it highly enough. It is beautifully restored 15th century property with some very bizarre and original decoration. It stands at the top of the village next to the church within comfortable...More

About the neighbourhood
The Limousin is a relatively undiscovered region of France and is therefore comparatively uncrowded. It is both the garden and the 'Lake District' of France and is a delight to visit. Whether exploring the area by car (and it is quite possible to have a very good time without a car!) or on foot there is much to enjoy.

The area is one of great historic interest spanning many centuries. There are a variety of places to visit in the footsteps of Richard the Lionheart ranging from Coussac Bonneval and the Chateau de Bonneval to Arnac-Pompadour, which boasts a fine chateau. We are also very close to the Blond Mountains, which have marvellous walks, and the ancient village of Montmartre, where an art or antique show is often in progress.

The nearest large city - 25 minutes drive - is L...
