Brae Cottage has a very special place in my heart- it is where, as a child, I was brought for family holidays. Although it retains its traditional looks it has now been completely renovated, enlarged and brought up to date to provide all the benefits of modern living.
Snuggle up by the cosy open fire on a wintry day,
enjoy the evening sun and views of the Ythan Valley on a warm summer's evening and
use the cottage as a great base to explore the best that Aberdeenshire and the Aberdeen area have to offer.

We are now offering the private use of a 6 person hot tub which is proving very popular. The cost is £120 per booking which includes use of bathrobes and a bottle of bubbly. In the interest of your own health and safety there are some T's and C's to be observed. We will visit regularly to keep the tub water in good condition...

We live in the farmhouse just 150 yards away so we are generally on hand to provide any additional support you may require or we will leave you in peace to enjoy your stay. We are happy to accept grocery deliveries in advance of your arrival on request. If you let us know what you want to do while you are here we can suggest activities and places to eat etc. Late arrivals are not a problem for us to organise.

It was the fourth time we stayed at Brae cottage and it will definatelly not been the last time. Starting by the owner over the cottage ending by the location a outstanding place to spend the holidays and having a great time.

Excellent family getaway. This cottage on a working farm is completely updated with everything we needed for a 9-day stay. We had three generations -- the elderly 90 year olds enjoyed the hospitality of the local Methlick church community and the breathtaking views from the...More

About the neighbourhood
Methlick is a pretty village with some great amenities. The local hotel and pub has a great menu and is open for lunches and evening meals 7 days a week. They offer a cosy lounge bar & restaurant with open coal fires and welcome families with well behaved children. They always have a selection of real ales, Malt whiskies and a growing range of Gins on offer.
The village has its own dedicated cricket ground 'Lairds', home of the MCC (Methlick Cricket Club) and matches are played at weekends throughout the season.
We also have an exciting new kids adventure playground which every young visitor should pay a visit to. Hoodles playbarn only 20 minutes drive away provides indoor and outdoor play areas for children and gym and cafe facilities for the grownups.

Being in such a rural location is an opportunity to get back to the old methods of transport- walking and cycling. If you can't bring your own bikes we can help you to hire some locally. There is a bus service to Aberdeen via the surrounding villages but the flexibility of a car is really essential.

Approaching from the South or East, leave Methlick on the New Deer Road B9170, (straight on over the bridge and up the Hill. Don't follow any other sat nav advice at this point.After leaving the 30 mph limit take the 2nd farm road on your LEFT (stone roller in dyke carved Little Ardo) and proceed up tarred road. Take 1st LEFT turn down through avenue of trees to farmhouse then Brae Cottage is signposted a further 150metres on the LEFT.
