About the neighbourhood
Baldersdale is a branch dale off Teesdale, where you will find the reservoirs of Hury, Blackton & Balderhead. Baldersdale came to fame in the 1970s as the home of Hannah Hauxwell who ran her farm single handedly and without running water. Hannah’s meadow is now managed by Durham Wildlife Trust as a nature reserve and can be visited to learn more about her life and work.

Definitely a place for discovering rare and profuse wildlife and flora Baldersdale is a bird watcher's paradise. For wild flowers venture to Upper Teesdale Nature Reserve or Flatts Woods at Barnard Castle.

There are purpose built cycle routes through Hamsterley Forest, much moutain biking around Co Durham, the 'Wanly to Wear' cycle route and also a coast to coast route.
