About the neighbourhood
Muckle Roe, which means big Island of Red Rock, is situated 2.5 miles from the township of Brae. Experience a walk to the 'Hams of Roe' with some of its amazing scenery. Have breakfast looking over Orwick Water, arctic terns nesting and laying their young little more than a stones cast away whilst nearby oyster catchers hunt for food, watch for the otter as he hunts for food and annoys the birds. Have dinner in nearby Brae with its local shops eateries, and hotels including historic Busta House and also Frankies (the best fish and chip restaurant and Scotland). Take a day trip to Unst, or Eshaness, or visit the archaeology at Sumburgh, and an evening trip to Mousa to see the stormy petrels.
