Aberdeen Cottage enjoys an enviable location, not just for its views in all directions, but also for its accessibility into the Cairngorm mountains and to the coast with the delightful and picturesque harbour villages like Stonehaven. Loch Ness, of course, is also not far away and a trip there allows you the opportunity of travelling on the fantastic 'road to Tomintoul' which must be one of the most scenic roads in the whole of Scotland ?...Aberdeen Cottage enjoys an enviable location, not just for its views in all directions, but also for its accessibility into the Cairngorm mountains and to the coast with the delightful and picturesque harbour villages like Stonehaven. Additional amenities & feature info
Of traditional design, the charming cottage has just (March 2014) been extended and now provides 3 reception rooms including a new and well appointed and fully equipped kitchen/living room and a family bathroom/wc on the ground floor with an electric shower over the bath.. The wood-burning stove is a great focal point to the sitting-room and is perfect to relax in front of after a day's activities. Upstairs are two comfortable bedrooms, one double and one twin and another new bathroom/wc, with separate shower, on the first floor. The 2014 extension and the complete renovation works of the original cottage carried out in 2011 now afford a comfortable holiday home in this most idyllic location overlooking the River Dee and enjoying fabulous views to all sides.

I wasn't going to respond to this exaggerated and partly untrue review but have decided I should. Only to say that ( whilst accepting there was a mouse ) it could hardly be called an "infestation". It is interesting that the guests who arrived during...More

About the neighbourhood
The village of Ballater is only a 10 minute walk away, along the old Deeside railway line. Many of the local shops, which are around the village green and the Glenmuick Parish Church, enjoy royal patronage (with their Warrants displayed). The village has an excellent selection of restaurants, shops and small convenience stores and you will find everything you need for a self catering holiday in the mountains. There is an excellent local tourist information centre in the original Ballater railway station which has been restored and also houses an exhibition which includes Queen Victoria's waiting room and one of the carriages from her royal train.
How to get there
Aberdeen Cottage is about 1/2 a mile from the village centre on the A93 road to Aboyne.
