Aberdeen Cottage enjoys an enviable location, not just for its views in all directions, but also for its accessibility into the Cairngorm mountains and to the coast with the delightful and picturesque harbour villages like Stonehaven. About the neighbourhood
The village of Ballater is only a 10 minute walk away, along the old Deeside railway line. Many of the local shops, which are around the village green and the Glenmuick Parish Church, enjoy royal patronage (with their Warrants displayed). The village has an excellent selection of restaurants, shops and small convenience stores and you will find everything you need for a self catering holiday in the mountains. There is an excellent local tourist information centre in the original Ballater railway station which has been restored and also houses an exhibition which includes Queen Victoria's waiting room and one of the carriages from her royal train.
