What a delightful holiday home. Tornacraig marries freedom with comfort - not only through its remote yet accessible location, but also in the house itself. There is ample space for entertainment in the main rooms, whilst the bedrooms offer a sense of suitable separation. The...More

Additional amenities & feature info
This house is designed for eight people to enjoy country holidays in the Highlands of the Grampian Mountain range. The house is in the Dee Valley between Ballater and Dinnet. The house overlooks farmland to the east to the wide Dinnet Muir, or moor, which is a low lying area of birch and heather moorland surrounding Loch Kinord, a naturally land locked loch north and west of Dinnet. The house was designed with holiday cottage facilities, originally for six guests now extended to sleep eight in four twin bedded rooms. There are three bathrooms with baths or showers, an enormous kitchen and dining room, sitting room and utility room. The kitchen is well fitted and supplied with three fridges and there are two deep freezers, a large range cooker with propane gas hobs and electric ovens. The heating is more than adequate. The washing and bathing facilities are a mixture of bath only, shower over bath in the en suite, and a shower only, there are wc in each room. The house is designed to be fairly child and dog proof, surfaces and floors are durable in preference to fancy.

About the neighbourhood
Ballater and Aboyne are two Highland market towns and bridging points, situated on the River Dee to service the hinterlands of both towns. Dinnet is a crossroads and bridging point over the Dee. In former times Aboyne and Ballater were serviced by a railway and bus terminals, cattle market, banking and shopping, bakeries and health centres, with retail outlets for tourists and locals alike. Braemar, Aboyne and other towns in the area host Highland Games to challlenge locals and touring athletes, dancers and bagpipe players, they happen once a year in each venue and are advertised locally, nationally and on the internet. Activities offered in the area are walks, riding, trekking, fishing, (salmon, brown and rainbow trout also coarse), shooting, stalking, distilleries, Balmoral Castle, skiing, historic Castles, gardens, etc.
How to get there
The house has private access, on a stone track, off the B976, this is the road between Ballater and Dinnet, on the south side of the River Dee, it is about 4 miles to each settlement and their bridges. From Glenshee and Braemar, continue into Ballater, cross the Dee and turn left. Continue for 4 miles until at a left hand bend a track can be seen rising up into the trees on the right, there is a sign post. From Aberdeen and Aboyne, continue to Dinnet, turn south and cross the Dee, turn right and continue 4 miles until the second sharp right hand bend, when you will see the sign post and the track rising ahead of you. Ascend the track and Tornacraig is the first house you come to on the left. Note the Post Code AB34 9PA.
