About the neighbourhood
The villas are in a small hamlet (borgo) set in beautifully landscaped gardens with magnificent views. Despite seeming a very rural area the villas are only 15mins from the main motorway and within easy access of beaches, lovely villages and interesting towns such as Lucca. The local restaurants offer typical fare and are non-touristy. There are several more sophisticated restaurants within a 10 minute drive. All the villages have markets on different days and a good clothes one is Lerici on Saturday morning. La Spezia has a fantastic fish market and a big general market once a week. There are local activities such as horse riding, quad biking etc. Many guests enjoy cycling and hiking.
A car is essential. It is nearly impossible to reach the villas by public transport. There is one local taxi, a bus service and train from Aulla - a good option for the crowded Cinque Terre and a day trip to Florence.
How to get there
Airport: Pisa: 70.0 km
Railway: Aulla in Lunigiana: 8.0 km
Ferry: Livorno: 80.0 km
You definitely need a car to enjoy your holiday as the villa is up a small rural road not near public transport. Many of our guests drive from France, Switzerland or Germany. We are easily reached in a day. Alternatively our English, Australian and American guests fly into Pisa, hire a car (there are many of companies to choose from), drive 1 hour north and pick up groceries on the way.
