Just outside the village of Carraroe and minutes from a private beach it is the perfect place to base yourself to explore the beautiful west of Ireland. We have put lots of love into our home and hope people enjoy it as much as we do. It's an Incredible home to relax & unwind for couples or for families alike. The house comprises of 2 bedrooms downstairs & 3 bedrooms upstairs. Downstairs has 1 king bedroom & 1 double bedroom. Upstairs has one master bedroom Superking bed ensuite with a baby room adjoining with 2 baby cots. There is another room ensuite with a double bed and 2 single beds and the final room upstairs has a double bed. The house has 4 bathrooms - 3 upstairs & 1 downstairs - 2 with rain showers, 2 normal showers and 1 cast iron bath. All linens, towels & welcome pack of toiletries are provided. There is underfloor heating throughout & the sitting room also consists of a multi fuel stove to make those winter nights even cosier. The sitting room, living room & kitchen are open plan. There is a dining table in the conservatory that seats up to 10 people. The kitchen island seats 4 people. There is a beautiful beach at the end of the road which is very safe for swimming and very private. A little bit about Carraroe - Carraroe (An Cheathrú Rua) is situated on a peninsula 50 kilometers west of Galway city on the coast road ( R336). Carraroe is in the Connemara Gaeltacht and Irish (Gaelic) is the first language. It is 8 kms from Rossaveal (Ros a Mhíl) the ferry port for the Aran Islands so therefore it's an ideal base for visiting the islands or touring Connemara. There are several small safe beaches locally, There are many interesting walks you can take in the area and as Carraroe is a peninsula it's possible to take many loops around the peninsula. The beach also has a blue flag from E.U.. The traditional sailing boats - the Hooker, Gleoiteog and Pucan are still to be seen sailing in the bay and there are several regattas held during the summer. As Irish is the main language in the area there are several courses held during the summer for second level students in the 2 Irish colleges. Students live with Irish speaking families during their 3-week stay at the courses. An tAcadamh - is part of the Irish Department of National University of Ireland Galway. Courses are held there for adults, third level students and foreigners. CARRAROE, COUNTY GALWAY - Location Dublin 250 Km, Galway 42 Km, Clifden 59Km Driving times: • Shannon Airport – 80 miles - 2 hours • Knock Airport – 62 miles 1.5 hours • Dublin Airport - 256 Km 3 hours • Dun Laoghaire ferry - 166 miles; 3 hours Amenities close to the house: • Nearest beach: 5 Minute Walk • Nearest shop; Carraroe, 20 mins walk, 5 min drive • Nearest pub; Carraroe, 20 mins walk, 5 min drive • Nearest town; Spiddal, 30 minutes drive - • Nearest Church; 20 mins walk, 5 min drive • Nearest playground; 15 minutes walk – 4 min drive Places of interest & driving times from our home Aran Islands : There are several sailings daily from Rossaveal. There are many monastic ruins on island also Dun Aengus fort, which is situated on the edge of a 300 feet high cliff. Connemara Isles Golf Course: 9 hole golf course in scenic surroundings with some of the holes on an island. Lough Corrib: World famous for trout and salmon fishing. (1hour 30 minutes) Rosmuc : Holiday home of Patrick Pearse executed after 1916 Rising. Most of his short stories in Irish are set in this area. (35 minutes) Kylemore Abbey : Restored Victorian Gardens and Craft Centre (1 hour ) Connemara National Park: Exhibition on the Connemara landscape, Audio Visual show and nature trails. (1 hour) Spiddal: Craft village and Standun Gift Shop with large supply of Aran sweaters, Crystal and giftware (20 minutes) Clifden: Clifden being Connemara's largest town, it is often referred to as 'the Capital of Connemara' (1 hour) Roundstone: An area of outstanding natural beauty, Roundstone Village has been described many times as a 'botanist's delight' with lots of restaurants & bars in this fishing village.(1 hour) Inagh Valley: 50 minutes Inagh Valley is one of the most scenic valley in Connemara. It is a romantic valley which offers breathtaking views of peatlands, mountains, lakes and glorious countryside where sheep graze freely. The beautiful Lough Inagh lies in the valley. The massive quartz range of the Twelve Ben Mountains, framing the northern end of the lake, dominates the wonderful vista across the water of the Lough. We had the most amazing break an absolutely fantastic house!! We loved every minute of it!! The house and it’s stunning surroundings blew us -family of 6-away!! We will definitely return for a great value get away that we are still buzzing after!!

Carraroe (An Cheathrú Rua) is situated on a peninsula 50 kilometers west of Galway city on the coast road ( R336).Carraroe is in the Connemara Gaeltacht and Irish (Gaelic) is the first language.It is 8 kms from Rossaveal (Ros a Mhíl) the ferry port for the Aran Islands so therefore it's an ideal base for visiting the islands or touring Connemara.There are several small safe beaches locally, the most interesting is the Coral beach (Trá an Dóilín) which is made up of twig like fragments of lithothamnium and other seaweeds that have stiffened. It's also a very popular diving location.There are many interesting walks you can take in the area and as Carraroe is a peninsula it's possible to take many loops around the peninsula.
