The “Casa al Lago” , a typical ancient building dating back to the XVIII Century is situated right in the historical center of Orta San Giulio; it overlooks Via Olina, the main street of this pretty town, and is surrounded by ancient and noble mansions, where visitors can enjoy the sight of beautiful ironworks, one of the most ancient crafts widely practised in this area.
The main entrance to the house is on Vicolo Olina, a pedestrian lane leading directly to the lakeside.
The building is just a few steps away from the picturesque Piazza Motta, nicknamed the “drawing room” with its bars and restaurants overlooking the wharf and featuring panoramic terraces from which the visitors can enjoy the breathtaking view of the magic Isle of San Giulio.
During your stay in this town of rare beauty the total absence of cars, the murmur of the waves lapping on the shore and the majestic ancient scenery will take you back in time and make you feel as if breathing a sort of Venetian atmosphere ……

Well situated in beautiful lake setting. Clean,well equipped apartment. Shaded balcony an asset in very warm weather. Friendly, helpful host who provided transfers to and from railway station. Local bus providing transport to Lake Maggiore. Only 50 minutes away. Highly recommended.

wonderful apartment
Very nice apartment with a great patio. Had everything we needed! Owner was very accommodating since we arrived much earlier than expected.

Delightful, central and very well equipped apartment
Very central and extremely well equipped. The kitchen and bathroom have all the utensils and machines you might need and probably more - but do look in the right place! The landlady is very efficient and helpful. There is a dining/living room with integrated kitchen and a separate sleeping room with attached bathroom. You will find everything to prepare your own meals (but eating out is really very cheap and good in Orta). If you didn't bring your own can use bed sheets and towels at no extra cost. On the lovely private terrace you can have your meals or enjoy a glass of wine. There are views of the lake both from the kitchen/main room and from the terrace, though not directly on the waterfront.
The location is at a stone's throw from the charming central square. That also means some bustle, especially from the restaurant next doors that plays a lot of music. However, nights were totally silent. We didn't mind the music - some blues, some jazz, some Italian, but it gets a little tiring. For WiFi you have to go to the central square (free by courtesy of the municipality). Note that cars don't enter the city, you have to carry your luggage a small distance but the landlady can arrange a garage nearby. Finally, there is no airco - although the apartment stays quite cool on really hot days in summer it might be warm.
