well-known testament is the nearby aqueduct LE PONT DU GARD - built by the Romans around 50 BC to supply spring water to the city of Nimes.. A little further afield the fascinating saltpans and bird sanctuaries around the scenic fortified city of Aigues Mortes and the Camargue are worth a visit. Spring and summertime is perfect for exploring the fresh-green countryside, indulging in waterside picnics or visit the Camargue, its wild horses, fighting bulls and its beaches.. Go visit winemakers for a tasting, cycle or walk magnificent gorges.. To get to Uzes by car, take exit 23 (REMOULINS) from the A9 and follow the signs to Uzes (17kms).
