Pets: Dogs (maximum 2) are excepted at the villa with an additional charge of 35 euros per dog per week, which may either be paid with your booking online or when you arrive. Please let us know when making your reservation and tell us the number, size (eg. small, medium, large) and race. You will be met on arrival at the villa, shown arround and the keys given to you. Exceptionally, if I am not there to meet you on arrival, I will arrange for access and pop in to see you shortly after your arrival. There is an information folder in the villa explaning the important points, eg. Internet access. There is also plenty of tourist information and another folder with important numbers, eg. doctor etc.

The villa is certainly in beautiful, rolling countryside but far more isolated than the overview or previous reviewers would indicate. Bergerac is a 40 min drive away and Villenblard, the nearest village, has only a baker and butcher and is a good ten minute drive....More

About the neighbourhood
The village of Villamblard has a tiny Monday morning market, bank, post office, baker, butcher and general stores plus the Raymond Clovis distillery. Founded in 1834 the distillery utilises the same traditional recipes for distilling alcohol. Villamblard gets it's name from Roman times when the Villa Lamblardi was built and boasts a ruined chateau and countryside walks, a circular walk taking you up to the high forest (Haut Foret).

The Isle valley area which runs west to east has been inhabited since prehistory and traces have been found of cave paintings near Sourzac as well as dolmens and standing stones. The Normans are reputed to have sailed up the Isle and ransacked the valley in the 9th century, pillaging many of the towns on the way, Montpon, Mussidan and the fortified abbeys...
