About the neighbourhood
Thruscross Reservoir is the northernmost of four reservoirs in the Washburn valley, lying north of Otley and west of Harrogate in North Yorkshire, England. It can be found from the A59 road. Thruscross was completed in 1966, much later than the other three reservoirs which date back to the nineteenth century. The construction of the reservoir flooded the village of West End, which was already largely derelict following the decline of the flax industry. The remains of a flax mill can be seen at the edge of the reservoir, and more of the village has been revealed at times of drought, such as the summers of 1989 and 1990. The reservoir is the property of Yorkshire Water, which manages it for the benefit of walkers, anglers and wildlife.
Getting around
The best way to get to us is by car, has we are a little way off the beaten track. But once here, there is so much do within half an-hours drive. Or if you wish to take it a little easier there are amazing walks with stunning views.

How to get there
Airport: Leeds Bradford: 30.0 km
Railway: Harrogate, Skipton, Ilkley : 20.0 km
Skipton - From Skipton take the A59 towards Harrogate. At Bolton Abbey roundabout go straight ahead and up the A59 towards Harrogate. Approx 4 miles from the roundabout there is a left turn, Northmoor road. As you turn left you will notice a disused quarry entrance on your right. Continue on this road until you reach the crossroads (approx 2 miles), the farm is straight ahead of you.

Harrogate - Take the A59 towards Skipton. Drop down past the Hopper Lane Hotel at Blubberhouses and towards Fewston Reservoir car-park. At the crossroads just past the carpark (if you look up to the left you will see Blubberhouses Church)- turn right onto Hall Lane sign posted West End. Follow Hall Lane until you reach the crossroads with Northmoor Road on you
