Dundee, Scotland
Taymount Cottage is a cosy little Victorian cottage. Formerly the Coach House to Taymount House, this gem of a property has views over the river Tay, and is just five minutes' walk from central Broughty Ferry. Within walking distance are the beach, Broughty Castle, Claypotts Castle, and all the shops and amenities of the historic fishing village of Broughty Ferry. Within 20 minutes are Dundee, Carnoustie, Forfar, and more golf courses than you can shake a stick at.

Recently refurbished, the cottage still maintains period features while also providing modern convenience in the shape of the brand new kitchen and bathroom. Every room is bright and airy, with lots of natural light, and the cottage is set in its own private garden, with a gated drive.

Interaction with guests
I'll be there to meet you when you arrive to show you how things work, where things are, and to leave you with the keys. I'm very happy to be asked for tips on places to go, things to do, where to eat, see, and shop, but I also understand that this is a time when you want to relax and enjoy your visit with all the comforts of home, so I won't be in your pocket if you don't want me to be. Let me know how much interaction you expect from me during your stay, and I'll work to your expectations.

About the neighbourhood
Broughty Ferry is an historic fishing village that underwent huge development in the 19th Century as the Jute Barons who'd made their fortunes in nearby Dundee sought to move where the air was fresh, the space plentiful, and views spectacular. With the advent of small, local railways, Broughty Ferry boomed as an exclusive suburb for the wealthy. The original areas of the village still remain in Fisher Street, Ambrose, Street, and all the little lanes that run along from the water front, but the expansion can be seen in the more modern, grid layout of the streets from there up to Queen Street which cuts through the lower parts of Broughty Ferry and the areas on the hill which were where the Jute Barons build their mansions.
Getting around
Broughty Ferry is well-serviced by local bus services and has a small railway station. Information about bus times, train times, and for travel further afield, is provided in the cottage's Welcome Pack.
While a car is not necessary, as all local amenities (shops, bars, restaurants etc) are within a few minutes' walk, we would recommend transport if you wish to travel outwith the Dundee area, as some rural services are irregular.
