The Flat offers very comfortable ground floor accommodation for two at 3 Church Street in the heart of Glencaple Village. Built in the early 19th century, it has recently been renovated to a high standard. The Flat is situated on the Burns and Solway Coast Heritage Trail and only 4 miles from the Wildfowl and Wetlands Reserve at Caerlaverock – a 40 minute drive from the RSPB Reserve at Mersehead. In winter flocks of Barnacles fly past your window in the morning and evening and other geese, waders and ducks can be seen on the river. Otters are often spotted nearby and in summertime porpoises and seals have been seen in the river. This area is a nature-lover's paradise and is within the Nith Estuary, one of Scotland’s National Scenic Areas. There's also the popular Nith Hotel just around the corner from the flat which serves lunches and dinners all year round. More

About the neighbourhood
Glencaple is a lovely little village on the banks of the River Nith - five miles south of Dumfries. The Nith Hotel (just around the corner) is open all year round and and serves great pub food at excellent value. There is a shop in the Boathouse on the quay where you can also enjoy coffee, cake and delicious lunches - lots of vegetarian and vegan options.
