About the neighbourhood
Brecon is a good base to explore the Brecon Beacons and has a beautiful Cathedral and two museums, one for The Welsh Borderer's made famous at Rouke's Drift in the film Zulu. There are shops, cafes and restaurants catering to many tastes and budgets. In August the famous Jazz Festival takes place together with a growing 'fringe festival' in the pubs. From the cottage can be seen remains of an iron age fort, Roman road and drovers green tracks. All of the park's attractions are within an easy drive and the local busses are able to return you to the car after a long walk!
Getting around
The nearest train station is Abergavenny and from there you can get a bus to Brecon. We are then another 2.5 miles out of town via taxi. It is possible to visit some areas by bus but it is a country service so not as frequent as towns.
