Capel Pennant is an old estate chapel on the Chirk Castle estate, only a mile from the National Trust castle, within the grounds of an historic seventeenth century upland manor house, Plas Pennant. The farmstead is sited at the head of a secret valley, 900ft above sea level, part of the glorious Ceiriog Valley, one of the hidden gems of North Wales, close to the border with Shropshire. There isn't another property in sight, so no road noise, no light pollution, just peace and quiet although only a short distance from Llangollen, Chirk and the market town of Oswestry. Capel Pennant was an absolutely lovely little cottage, seemingly in the middle of nowhere but really only a few minutes from town. We stayed over a weekend in late October. The fall air, the light mist, the sound of running water, the area around the...More

This is one of those places you almost don’t want to recommend as you want to keep it to yourself! The accommodation is a converted chapel, all the mod cons you need but not at the expense of any character - the building is beautiful,...More

The magical town of Llangollen with its steam heritage railway, the Ladies of Llangollen's home Plas Newydd, horse drawn canal boats and international music festival is only three miles from Pennant and walkable along an old drover's route. The Llangollen canal is part of the Froncysyllte Aquaduct World Heritage Site, again only a short distance from Pennant. Pennant is also close to Offa's Dyke, an ancient earth works defining the Engli...
