Farmhouse
The Old Brooder Bunkhouse with lovingly restored Shepherd's Hut provides comfortable, simple accommodation in a mix of bed types and bedrooms for up to 22 guests who don’t necessarily have a big budget but while the Covid-6-maximum rule is around before Christmas, we're offering it groups as small as 2 midweek and 6 at weekends. The 'Old' part of the name is a misnomer - it is modern and stylish - on an old site! The bunkhouse furnishings are quirky and definitely different - joiner-made oak bunk beds with thick comfortable mattresses (and conventional beds for those who don’t like bunks), church pews for kitchen seats, local elm table and benches, maps and artwork on the walls, Moroccan goatskin lamps, Mexican wall tiles and Spanish floor tiles, 200 year old stained glass in the upstairs...The Old Brooder Bunkhouse with lovingly restored Shepherd's Hut provides comfortable, simple accommodation in a mix of bed types and bedrooms for up to 22 guests who don’t necessarily have a big budget but while the Covid-6-maximum rule is around before Christmas, we're offering it groups as small as 2 midweek and 6 at weekends. About the neighbourhood
The bunkhouse is situated on our environmentally friendly farm in the Wool Town area of Suffolk, with lovely villages and pubs within 3 miles - accessible by footpaths, bicycles or car (sorry no buses). Guests play croquet, read, barbecue, walk, paint, cycle and wildlife-watch on our farm and further afield visit National Trust properties, Constable Country, or further to the Suffolk Coast to the east or Cambridge to the west.
Getting around
We have 22 adult road bikes for guests to borrow - slow down, enjoy the country lanes, keep your carbon footprint down and sleep well after a day's exercise! If you don't wish to walk or cycle you will need a car or a taxi from the nearest train station in Sudbury.
