Super cute cottage in lovely village location - situated within 6 miles of the Lake District and within the border of the Yorkshire Dales. The cottage has been beautifully presented throughout and has been designed to cater for all your needs - even down to the courtesy picnic hamper for those summer walks!

The cottage comprises a very well-equipped, compact modern kitchen with hob, double oven, washer/dryer, microwave, kettle, toaster ... even a slow cooker, handy for coming back to after a long day's walking! The living area is beautifully quirky with ample dining space at the lovely table under a large window, a cosy open fire, TV with DVD player and free-view Sky channels. About the neighbourhood
Orton village has a Post Office with a newsagents - where you can buy food, logs for the fire, newspapers, sweets etc.. Kennedy’s Chocolate factory is a definite must-see and only a few steps from the cottage door. As well as a large cafe, there are lots of lovely gift-ideas, sculptured chocolates and novelty items. The Farmers market is on the 2nd Saturday of every month and has a whole host of interesting foods, cheeses and wine. The smell of hot dogs and bacon baps wafts across to the cottage as the market is situated a few yards away! The George Hotel is the lovely, welcoming village pub - a popular stop over for people doing Wainwright’s Coast to Coast walk – with a large range of ales, food, regular activities and pub quizzes etc.
Getting around
We do recommend you bring a car to Orton as there is so much to see and do in the wider area, it would be a shame to miss out. That said, there are lots of walks straight from the cottage door, there is a village pub, two cafes, a chocolate shop and a village convenience store, so if you really want to just nestle away for your stay, you can do! There are bus links into the village but they are limited. You can also get trains to Kirkby Stephen, Oxenholme (Kendal) or Appleby and taxi from there to Orton.
