The Conservatory is a spacious apartment in a quiet elevated location below the mountain of Skiddaw, but just a five minute drive or bus journey to Keswick. There are exceptional panoramic views towards the Lakeland mountains (Catbells, Causey Pike, Grisedale Pike, and beyond), and to Borrowdale, from inside the property and from the gardens.

Inside the apartment there is large living room with an open real fire to burn logs or coal, wi-fi, a large (40') smart TV, and a music system for playing from Apple devices or smartphones.

The bedrooms are down a flight of stairs from the main living area. The large master bedroom includes an en-suite bathroom refurbished in 2015 with a large deep luxury bath, walk-in shower, heated towel rail, and underfloor heating. (The owners do not live on site or nearby although there is a management agency that looks after the property and will respond in the event of any problems. Details of the agency are sent to guests prior to arriving.) Inside the property is a 'welcome folder' full of details about the property, its appliance and equipment, and a few details about the local area and ideas on how to make the most of your stay in the Lake District.

Clean, comfortable, private place with amazing views. Perfect place for a North Lakelands holiday. We hope to return one day.

Fantastic accommodation, location and facilities. The information provided beforehand was clear and gave us all we needed to make our weekend run smoothly. Will definitely look to book this one again.

About the neighbourhood
Keswick, about 3km away from The Conservatory, is a delightful small town with many shops, pubs, cafes and restaurants. It has a large pedestrianised shopping area which hosts a regular market. The Tourist Information Centre in the market square is very helpful but also try the information on the Keswick Tourist Association website.

There is plenty of parking in Keswick but you can also take a bus from The Conservatory from a bus stop on the main road a short walk away. Also, buses go from the centre of Keswick to various other locations around the Lake District.
Getting around
A five minute drive will take you to the heart of the bustling town of Keswick. Short drives will take you to some of the most picturesque places in England – to walk, ramble, climb, enjoy watersports, or just to ‘be’ and take in breathtaking scenery. And you do not need a car as a five minute bus ride from a nearby bus stop will also bring you into Keswick from where you can take various buses to destinations around the Lake District, or to Penrith or Carlisle – both with train stations.

By car - turn off the M6 at the Penrith junction and come west along the A66 for about 15 miles to Keswick. Ignore the first turn off from the A66 to Keswick. The second signposted turn off to Keswick is at a large roundabout but turn right at this roundabout towards Carlisle on the A591 (do not turn left into Keswick town centre). The property is 1.5 miles along this road. When driving down the A591, after 1.2 miles from the roundabout you will see a sign off to Millbeck to the right. Ignore this but 0.3 miles later there is a fairly sharp bend in the road to the right.
