There is a patio area with seating which is gated . Cots, high chairs, stairgates are all available at no extra charge. This is a great place for families or adults alike to stroll the country lanes, play games on the village green, or watch the antics of the ducks as they waddle too and fro from farm to stream. There is a small wooded SAFE area to play by the stream, where children can run and play and let off steam, playing hide and seek, pooh sticks in the stream, make camps, or all the traditional games we used to play. A truly relaxing place to be. Only a few yards away is the local Inn for good food and drinks. There are walks from the door down country lanes, to Bassenthwaite Lake, or for the more experienced climb the mighty Skiddaw, just behind us. Keswick is only 6 miles away for more adventures and the whole of the lakes is within half to one hour away. There is the Climbing wall at Keswick , Osprey viewpoint, Trotters Animal Farm, Dash Falls, outdoor persuits, and much more all nearby. Gifts Shops and coffee houses, in abundance. This is a special place to visit as there is so much freedom to walk, play, and relax in this relatively quiet little village. Ideal place to switch off and unwind and recharge those batteries. Children can run and play freely in the little wood running up and down paths by all the wild flowers, make dens, play pooh sticks in the stream and build dams , skim stones, feed the ducks, or just splash around and have simple unhindered fun - just like the good old days. Picnics can be had by the stream, or take a picnic up to the waterfall further up the road, and combine this with a walk to Skiddaw House, or even climb the mighty mountain. So much to do just on the doorstep of our cottage. Local Inn only a few yards away for good food and drinks, and Keswick and Cockermouth are only 6 miles and the rest of the lakes to the farthest one is only one hour away. For adults, this id an ideal place to relax with no pressures NB it may be confusing that we have beds for 8 but we actually prefer to only take a max of 6 in Brook House 2. There is a small bunkroom for 2 , Sometimes the bedrooms configuration does not suit everyone, so we have left extra beds in for that reason only. We only take dogs which do not cast their coat as we try to keep a high standard. One small dog preferably , but ask the owner. More
