Perfectly located within walking distance of Grasmere and Rydal Water. A peaceful location and a very pleasant stay.

Ladywood Lodge always had bags of character. Improvements to the kitchen and shower room haven't taken away any of the old charm. The kitchen has more space to cook, the shower room underfloor heating. Together with the bay window overlooking the wooded garden and open...More

Thank you for these comments. Over the last six months we have addressed most of them. We have fixed the heater that was not working, and ensured that the storage "boosters" are also operating properly when switched on. We have replaced the TV and re-organised...More

About the neighbourhood
Local things worth visiting/doing are Dove Cottage (Wordsworth), the Grasmere Gingerbread Shop, Stock Ghyll Waterfalls in Ambleside, Rydal Caves, and boats on Grasmere. Further afield, try Surprise View in Borrowdale, the Steamers on Lakes Windermere and Ullswater, the ferry across Windermere to Hawkshead, Skelwith Falls, Great and Little Langdale, and any of the passes - our favourites are Wrynose and Hardknott (with the Duddon Valley in between and Scafell Pike above), and Kirkstone (which links Ambleside to Patterdale and Ullswater). The Kirkstone Pass Inn is one of the highest pubs in England.
