Named after Princess Elizabeth, who visited the castle on several occasions and who would later in her life become the infamous Queen Elizabeth I of England, this lovely cottage was originally part of a paper mill, which was restored to make two cottages (Lady Jane Grey and Princess Elizabeth) and two apartments (St Kenelm and Oliver Cromwell), preserving the original exposed walls and beams throughout. (St Kenelm sits directly above Princess Elizabeth and Oliver Cromwell sits directly above Lady Jane Grey.)
The accommodation is arranged over two floors. Guests enter from a covered porch into a small hallway, with handy coat hooks, and pass through to an open-plan and very well-equipped kitchen with under-stairs storage (baby and cleaning equipment). The kitchen windows look out onto the p...
