Stow-on-the-Wold, Cotswolds, England
Tucked away at the end of a no through road on the edge of the village of Lower Swell, Oak House is in a peaceful setting overlooking open countryside. The large garden is a tranquil place to contemplate the surrounding landscape, whilst maybe catching a glimpse of a woodpecker or nuthatch on the birdfeeders. The only disturbance to a good night's sleep are likely to be owls hooting or a barking fox. Oak House is a detached cottage with 1 double and 1 twin room. All living rooms are private and overlook the garden and open fields beyond. The sitting room has oak flooring and furniture throughout and there are two comfortable leather sofas to curl up on in front of the wood burner. French windows open onto a large private patio area. The room is equipped with plasma TV with freesat (some HD channels), playstation/dvd player, Wi... Read more

We can advise of local places to visit and places to eat so they can make the most of their time here in the Cotswolds. As we live next door to the property we are at hand during their stay but we do respect our guests privacy.

There was nothing about Oak House that could have been improved on! This little home is beautifully appointed, warm, comfortable and immaculate. The photographs tell the story, but if anything don't do full justice to all the homely touches that Cheryl has added. There is...More

About the neighbourhood
Nestled just below Stow on the Wold, the village of Lower Swell has a vibrant community spirit. The village pub serves beer from the Donnington brewery based a mile up the road (worth a walk to for it's beautiful setting). Various buildings in the village and the gardens of Abbotswood House were designed by Edwin Lutyens. Naunton Downs golf course is approx 3 miles away and the area is home to several national hunt trainers with Cheltenham and Stratford racecourses a short car ride away. Maybe take in a play at the Royal Shakespeare Theatre. If retail therapy is more your style the surrounding Cotswold towns have a multitude of individual shops, Stow is renown amongst antique lovers and Cheltenham is famous for it's Promenade. Gloucester Quays Designer outlet is a short drive away... more
