Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.
If you have submitted a review for a holiday rental property, we may also ask that you provide us with proof of your stay to ensure that your review is attached to the correct rental property.
Holiday rental reviews collected via the VRBO website (formerly Homeaway) and syndicated to the Tripadvisor website are not currently subject to Tripadvisor’s standard moderation processes.

Highly recommended!
Loved my stay here. The cottage is gorgeous, spotlessly clean and really cosy considering the weather in November! It is perfectly located with easy access to beaches and local amenities and is situated in a quiet residential street. Easy to find and only half hour from M5 motorway, I would highly recommend this cottage. Can't wait to stay again next year. Only very very slight negative is the narrow gateway made parking a little challenging for me to begin with but I soon got used to it and it wasn't a problem.

House of my dreams
My favourite house in the country, great return visit was enjoyed by the whole family The updated lounge looks lovely and the beds are so comfortable I lost a few hours during the week refusing to get up This house is in the perfect place, the local shops/facilities suit us down to the ground The little extras make a huge difference and are so welcome after-all who wants to go shopping after a long journey it just couldn't be better

Great House
Just on our last day of a 10 day holiday. The house was fabulous and so close to The Downs. Pubs, shops and lovely little cafes within walking distance. We have been so fortunate with the weather so used our travel passes quite a few times into Torquay and Paignton on the open top bus. We will definitely return.

Great location disappointing garden
We took our grandchildren for our annual holiday to Torquay, first time at the cottage Location is perfect in terms of visiting Torquay and Babbacombe and onward to Brixham We were disappointed, however, that there was only one bathroom. The property was advertised with 2. The kitchen is really good, well stocked and great appliances . We paid for wi fi but this was erratic. We were advised by the owner that the gardener would be visiting to keep the garden beautiful. I only wish that was the case . The small garden was needing some Tlc, and the seated area was completely covered in overgrown plants and bird poop. I was aware that the furniture in the house was antique, but wasn’t aware that it needed a good clean, and there wasn’t enough seating should 6 people stay ( a sofa in the lounge and one lounge chair, a rocking chair, without a cushion couldn’t be considered a comfortable seat. We were unfortunate to be there whilst the property behind us having major renovation work. The noise started around 730 and continued until 7 pm at night. Banging and drilling and loud music and shouting from the builders. We spent very little time in the cottage as we were fortunate to have good weather All in all we enjoyed our holiday in st marychurch but unfortunately we were disappointed with the property on this occasion

The property is advertised as having a bathroom with bath/shower and wash hand basin and the 2nd bathroom with a toilet. Sky has recently contacted us and has upgraded our wifi internet with a brand new wifi router. The guests following this stay have set it up and reported that it is working really well. I can't wait to try it out myself. The reason the rocking chair is without a cushion is that all the cushions in the house were removed due to COVID-19. This was a decision made for the safety of our guests. I dispute that the furniture is dirty - it is antique. Yes, it was unfortunate about the building work, but sadly that was outside of our control. I've checked with the cleaner and apparently the scaffolding is coming down now, so this will soon be no issue. It is true that the garden needs a bit of pruning. The plants and bushes grow fast in the Summer months. This will be done as soon as we get some free days. The house is very popular during the school summer holidays when bookings are back to back and the gardener doesn't like to disturb the privacy of our guests.

Ideal location, clean, warm and well equipped
Had a lovely stay here, to visit family in the area, everything we needed available locally. The house is lovely and spacious with a charm all of its own. There is a secure garden area for the dog and space for sitting outside. Parking was tight but not a problem. We will definitely stay here again.

Fab place as a base to explore!
This house is perfectly located in a little seaside village of St Marychurch, Babbacombe. The village itself is quaint and pretty, with a pedestrianised shopping street filled with cafes, charity shops and local bakers, fishmongers, butchers and green grocers. Lots of restaurants and pubs within walking distance. Several supermarkets within a few mins walk. A 10 minute walk along the downs will bring stunning views across Babbacombe bay. Within 15-20 mins down a steep coastal path (not too tricky-it has switchbacks) and you are at the pebble/shale beach of Oddicombe. There is a cliff railway down to the beach too. You are perfectly located to access several beaches, Torquay, Paignton, Dawlish Sands (Sandy beach) and Dartmoor too, all within 30-40 mins drive. There is Creally theme park and Splashdown water park also 40mins drive. Loads of water sports- kayak and paddle board hire options all along the coast. The house itself is clean and perfect for a family. Loads of space upstairs for 6 to sleep comfortably, a small living room perfect for relaxing in the evening (complete with piano!). There is a dining room if the weather lets you down, but a nice table outside which we used for most breakfasts and dinners when we weren’t out and about. Parking is a bit tricky as the drive is steep and narrow, but we soon got the hang of it. There is a bus stop right outside the house for easy access to many places. The garden is fully enclosed so safe fir dogs and children. We made full use of the washer, washing line and dryer whilst there do didn’t have much washing to do in our return home! We loved our two week stay here. We were comfortable, happy, and found plenty to do nearby. We would highly recommend St Ann’s.

St Anns
Very nice and clean property. Bed was large and extremely comfortable, and we’ve slept better than ever. Many thanks for been so thoughtful and left PPE kits for children and essential things in the kitchen (tea, coffee, milk etc)

I love this house
Everything was perfect, the house is in the perfect setting and is clean & tidy. Everything you could possibly need is easily found, the groceries provided for your welcome are a lovely little touch, nothing better than tea & toast after a long journey! The private wrap around garden is so beautiful & peaceful The best value holiday home I have ever used and the only one I use for my regular trips to Torquay for the past 6 or 7 years just wish I'd known about it earlier

Excellent location
My best friend and i stayed at St. Anne's for 3 nights at the end of Sept 2020. Great place to stay for accessibility to many places. Accomodation was good, clean and had everything we needed, including a great welcome pack of bread, butter, milk, kitchen roll, tea and coffee. The beds were comfy (twin bed room) didn't try out the double bed or bunkbeds. Plenty of space upstairs in the bedrooms, although the lounge a little snug, but there is a large dining room with good table and chairs. We didn't sit in the garden as we were out and about but our dog had a rumage around and it is secure. I did struggle at first with parking on the drive as it is a little tight but the road isn't very busy so had plenty of time to manoeuvre. Good value for money for this stay.
