About the neighbourhood
Traditional Exmoor pubs and restaurants with fine dining are within easy reach. The small twin seaside holiday village resorts of Lynton and Lynmouth are a 15 minute drive, which have tourist attractions for all ages, a harbour and dog-friendly beach, shops, health centre, community cinema, post office, restaurants, pubs etc.
Local beauty spots such as Watersmeet and Valley of the Rocks and “Doone Valley”, the location of R.D. Blackmore’s Victorian romantic classic Lorna Doone, are close by. Further afield is the coastal village of Porlock, an inspiration for the poet Samuel Coleridge, the great surfing beach at Croyde, the golden sands at Woolacoombe, the resort of Ilfracombe, which has been adopted by the “Young British Artist” Damian Hirst, and the nature reserve of Lundy Island.
