Holiday Rental House
A lovely, cosy holiday cottage in beautiful Swaledale, in the northern Yorkshire Dales. Located in quiet Gunnerside, in upper Swaledale, Victoria House has central heating, wonderful Dales atmosphere and lovely views over buttercup meadows. The galleried dble bedroom has an extra child bed, with skylight views over the neighbouring fields. The cottage is entered from the ground floor, where a snug has a log-burning stove, sofabed (for one person), tv and dvd player. Upstairs, the first floor living area has another tv and dvd player, with a small kitchen off. This level also has the bathroom, with electric shower over the bath. Then upstairs to the second floor is the galleried dble bedroom, with an extra single bed, suitable for a child. Please note, only the double bed is normally made up; if you require the single bed and/or downstairs sofabed, you need to mention this on booking. Sorry, towels are NOT included. Free wifi (note, may be intermittent in summer when leaves are on trees). Ideally placed for many lovely walks direct from the front door, there is also a useful bus service to nearby villages (take the bus to Keld and walk back, a marvellous walk of about 7 miles). Plenty of parking in the village, and a charming tearoom/bistro (which does frozen 'bistro-style' meals and takeaway curries on alternate Mondays), plus a mobile fish and chip van on Fridays - ideal if you don't want to cook! An attractive, snug cottage, with a homely comfort, dog-friendly and great views. Free wifi (may be intermittent).More

About the neighbourhood
Ideal for walking or cycling, or gentle rambles in the stunning scenery. Swaledale is the most northerly of the Yorkshire Dales (and the most beautiful!). Gunnerside is a small village, with a cafe, a tearoom and a pub. Reeth is 6 miles away, with local shops, garage, post office, Friday market and recycling facilities. Muker is about 3 miles updale, with Swaledale Woollens, Craft shop/gallery, tearoom and village shop, and pub. Nearby towns are Hawes, 11 miles, Leyburn, 15 miles, Richmond, 18 miles.
Getting around
A car is necessary, although there is the Little White Bus Company, with a service from Richmond up Swaledale. Nearest train stations are Darlington, 30 miles/45 mins, or Kirkby Stephen, 18 miles/45 mins.
