'Les Hirondelles' is situated on the outskirts of the small village of Cuves, a farming community in the Seé Valley, Lower Normandy offering lovely views of the surrounding hills and countryside. Easy access from at least 3 ports (Caen, Cherbourg, St Malo - but also Le Havre, Dieppe and even Calais). Set in attractive grounds, the property offers a pleasant situation for a relaxing holiday in the countryside. Gite 1 accommodation comprises a living room with corner kitchen and, on the first floor, large bedroom with king-size bed (twins available on request) and small ensuite shower room. Unwind in the garden, relax by the pool or explore the many interesting and historic places nearby. The D-Day Landing beaches; Bayeux' Tapestry, Cathedral and Military Cemetery; Caen and Falaise and the Châteaux of William the Conqueror, Mont Saint Michel and its fascinating Illuminated Manuscripts; the port, beaches and ramparts of Saint Malo; and nice beaches are all within an easy drive. Less well-known perhaps but equally interesting are the medieval towns of Domfront, Vire, Avranches, Fougeres with its historic medieval Fort (the largest in Europe) and Dinan with its beautiful ramparts overlooking the river. Nearby you will find golf courses, rivers and lakes for fishing, parks, a Trout Farm and a Cider Farm. There are lots of marked trails for walkers and ramblers - we are on GR22 - we can provide maps of the area. Cycling is very popular too - bring your own bikes or we can arrange hire. Nature lovers will enjoy the huge range of birds to be seen from our garden, including buzzards and occasionally an owl, as well as the more usual species. There are also many beautiful gardens to visit in both Normandy and nearby Brittany.More

About the neighbourhood
Brécey is our nearest town - just a small market town but with everything you need for a holiday. There are two supermarkets (stocking an excellent range of wine and local cider), a Pizzeria, several bars and small shops and on Friday there is a small market with lots of stalls selling fresh produce, fish and seafood. Le Moulin de Jean is an excellent and very well-patronised gourmet Restaurant, situated just a 5 minute drive from Les Hirondelles. Just outside of Brécey is the communal campsite and leisure space which has a fishing lake (nice for a walk), tennis courts and an Equestrian Centre, where you can take riding lessons. There are lots of marked walking trails in the area - the Forest of Saint Sever has several of different lengths and around Mortain there are disused train l...
