A lovely self-catering, pet friendly, English holiday cottage, in the heart of the historic Chilham village, near the Cathedral City of Canterbury, Kent. The medieval village of Chilham has a long history, traces of which date back to the Neolithic period. The focal points of the village are undoubtedly the castle (it's wonderful gardens attributed to Capability Brown are open on special occasions) and the Church (with views over the surrounding valleys). A welcoming open log fire and oak beam features make the cottage an attractive and a cosy place to come to after a long day out walking and exploring the beautiful Kent countryside. Main Facilities On the ground floor is the entrance to the living room which has views of The Square, oak beams ceiling and other features with a brick open log fireplace. The solid oak floor makes it ideal for pets, as for the tiled floor in the separate kitchen / dining room that offers all the equipment a modern kitchen should have. A stable door opens onto small, enclosed private patio/garden. The open staircase leads to the upper floor where the landing opens onto a very well appointed bathroom with bath and shower and an attractive double bedroom, this last one overlooking the patio / garden and countryside views. Bed linen, personal towels are provided for your stay. Outdoor Details Free parking is available in The Square directly outside the cottage. Further Details A welcome tray will be ready for your arrival. The standard cottage hire week is Saturday to Saturday. No more than 3 people will be accepted to stay in the cottage at the same time, the third person will be charged at a fixed rate of £20 per week or part week. One well behaved pet is acceptable with prior notification at an additional cost of £25 per week or part week. A refundable £50 security deposit is required. There is a £26.40 booking fee payable. No more than 3 guest are allowed to stay at the property during their booking. Children are welcome, however are to be supervised at all times as the staircase is open on one side and no child safety gate is provided. Only one pet is allowed during stay. Pets are not allowed on carpeted areas eg staircase, landing and bedroom. Rubbish to be removed and disposed of at the end of stay. Failure to do so will incur in disposal cost.

Apallingly mismanaged!

Great location

Overall the cottage is very nice, a typical wood beamed cottage. Very nice inside and has almost all the amenities you need. Fantastic location, beautiful square with very picturesque houses. Very short walk to the pub, very welcoming neighbours too. We enjoyed our stay there...More

Chilham is on the North Downs National Trail and ancient Pilgrim's Way to Canterbury in a designated 'Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty'. Walking distance to the beautiful, peaceful countryside: the Kent Downs, woodland, lakes and orchards. Excellent walks from the cottage to Kings Wood (1,500 acres) where King Henry VIII hunted deer and to Godmersham Park (visited by Jane Austin). Numerous other walks nearby in the Stour Valley and Crundale Downs. In the village there are two pubs, a train station (short walk away and with direct trains to London, Ashford, Canterbury and Ramsgate), bus stop (services to Canterbury and Ashford), and a Post Office. Groceries, fruit and vegetables can be purchased from nearby farm shops. Plenty of parking spaces in the nearby free car park (3 min. walk...
Getting around
Chilham has a train station with services to London via Ashford and only a couple of stops to Canterbury. A Bus stop, is 2 mins walk from the cottage located down The Street near the Woolpack Inn, with regular busses to Ashford and Canterbury.
