El Burgo, Province of Malaga, Andalucia
This renovated farmhouse is set in a 10 acre Olive & Almond Grove. It is very secluded and private with a large private swimming pool. The house is surrounded on all side by patios, terraces and lavender garden. The views of the Sierra de las Nieves mountains are wonderful and night skies almost free from light pollution - so the stars are bright. Our past clients love the peace, scenery and long evenings eating, drinking and relaxin on the terrace watching the sun go down.

The house is geared up for families who want a relaxing break surrounded by nature. The property is just outside a lively traditional pueblo blanco. The village of El Burgo had all the amenities you could require - shops, bars restaurants and many festivals - depending on when you visit. The River Turon has dammed pools for swimming and riverside walks. You can e...

A rough track leads to this isolated four bedroomed house. The house is a good size for family swims and the house has everything you can want: DVDs, CDs, books, loads of kids' toys, cooking utensils, etc. This is truly a home from home. The...More

Hi Roger, thanks for your kind review. You're right, aircon would make things cooler! But we'd also have to put the rental rates up to cover the increased electricity consumption! However you were there during the recent heatwave in S Europe with some other areas...More

About the neighbourhood
Town history

El Burgo stands on a hillock, 590m above sea level. Many different civilisations took advantage of its strategic location, beginning with the Celts. The Carthaginians raised their Hannibal's Towers here, while the Romans granted it imperial prerogatives for its being a transit area for legions. In Puerto de los Empedrados you can still see the remains of the road connecting Acinipo to Málaga.

In the days if Islamic Spain, El Burgo was part of the territories controlled by Umar Ibn Hafsun, the Christian leader of anti-Umayyad forces living in the ninth century. The fort built in the area was one of the strongholds against the Caliphate. Later, in the period of the taifas, El Burgo was annexed to Ronda, and then to Málaga and Granada.
