Circa 17th century limestone, detached cottage with a wealth of features to reflect it's age, ie exposed original beams, stripped plank floors, large fireplace with log burner. Secure, dog friendly cottage garden with summerhouse for boots, bikes and cleaning muddy dogs! Slabbed patio with garden furniture and lawned area bounded by flowerbeds. STUNNING VIEWS looking west towards Steeplow hill with no other human habitation in view, just fields and trees. Master bedroom with kingside bed and en suite bathroom with extra single bed room off it which could suit a related adult or child wishing to sleep near parents. En suite has bath with power shower over, w.c. and basin. Other double bed room has bed which can be zipped together or apart to make a twin or double bedded room. Have just had an amazing fortnight at Foxhollies. The rural cottage was great & suited us well (2 adults and 3 teens). We loved the views, the sounds of cows & sheep, the sun in the garden especially in the evening and the peaceful ambience....More

About the neighbourhood
At around a thousand feet elevation, Alstonefield can be breezy and is always two or three degrees cooler than Ashbourne, the nearby mother town. The area has been compared to Switzerland, indeed the architecture in local village, Ilam, is very Swiss inspired. This is great place to access the upper reaches of Dove Dale, the best part, in my opinion. The Manifold Valley and Thors cave are a must to visit, Davidson Attenborough has said it is one for his favourite places to visit.
Getting around
The village of Alstonefield is usually accessed from the A515, Buxton to Ashbourne Road being around seven miles from Ashbourne.
