Issigeac, Dordogne, Nouvelle-Aquitaine
Set in the heart of the French countryside, high on a hill, and totally hidden behind a copse of trees, Le Petit Capelier represents all that is great about rural life in France. Located within ten minutes' drive of Issigeac (one of the most idyllic 'bastide' towns in the Dordogne), and many other beautiful villages, 18km from Château Les Merles Golf Course and 17 km from Aqua Park, Le Petit Capelier (old French for the little hat maker) is a perfect base from which to explore the surrounding stunning countryside, whether walking, cycling or driving. The property itself is surrounded by a myriad of wildlife and a large two and-a-half acre garden with a multitude of trees including many great oaks, some of which are over three hundred years old. Your comfort is of utmost importance to us: enjoy our private swimming pool (from... Read more

This wonderful house is in a very peaceful, rural location, down a long driveway, with lots of space around it, plus a private pool. It's comfortable and stylish, with a beautiful huge, high-ceilinged sitting room and three big bedrooms. We felt at home as soon...More

About the neighbourhood
The south-west Dordogne is filled with rolling landscapes and beautiful views at every turn. A little flatter than the centre and east Dordogne the landscapes are wider and less forest dominated but equally beautiful with flowing streams and rivers, sunflower fields filled with colour from June to September and a myriad of wildlife incluing the much-loved hoopoe, jays, buzzards and various other birds of prey. Begerac, the nearest large town, is a cultured centre of life with superb restaurants and shopping available throughout the old, ancient town centre to the more modern facilities to the east. The area is home to many chateaus including Bridoire, Monbazillac and Biron all of which have stunning architecture and fascinating history. Further along the Dordogne to the east within an... more

How to get there
Airport: Bergerac: 18.0 km
Railway: Bergerac: 20.0 km
Ferry: Bordeaux: 136.0 km
Booking flights to Bergerac well in advance of your stay here can save a great deal of expense. Recently we've managed to fly from Stanstead for less than £20 each but usually expect to pay around £120 for a return flight. It's essential to have a car and the hire deals (usually made in association with your flight) are reasonable so expect to pay between £30 and £40 a day for a five-door car. The hire firms (Hertz, Eurocar and Avis) are located directly outside the terminal at Bergerac so it's all very convenient. The drive from the airport takes approximately 15 minutes along a well built, safe road towards the south and we can provide precise co-ordinates for your satellite navigation system should you require it. There are some lovely trips one can take but for real ex... more
