Holiday Rental House
Old Post Office House is a 160 year old, stone-built cottage in Stilligarry, South Uist and is our family holiday home that we share with visitors to the isles when we're not there. It's a 15 minute stroll to Stilligarry's pristine white sand beach and the three mountains, Beinn Mhòr, Hecla and Beinn Choradail are at hand for walkers. Fishing, birdwatching, cycling, field sports and surfing are world class. Old PO House is a cosy home from home in one of the most beautiful parts of the world. The space For us, the old Post Office is all about being cosy after a great day out on the beaches, lakes or hills of the Uists. Of course there is central heating and there are two working, fireplaces downstairs! All the beds have feather duvets and pillows. The king size master bed and single bedroom have just had new beds and pocket sprung mattresses. Even though it's a historic building, there is high speed fibre WiFi and a 43' Flatscreen Smart TV with HD FreeSat, a DVD player and hifi Separates with a Bluetooth receiver to keep you entertained. For the musicians among you there is a guitar and ukele. Please take care of them as they were a gift but feel free to enjoy them. There are a couple of classic board games and cards for you to use as well. There is a spacious enclosed garden for kids to play in. Guest access The whole house is available for guest use. Interaction with guests The keys are available 24hrs and you shouldn't need help to get in. Our lovely neighbour Fiona is at hand if you lose your key or something goes awry. Other things to note Please make sure to check you're able to get to the island before booking, there are two ferry ports you can get in Lochmaddy and Lochboisdale. (Three including via Barra) and the plane from Glasgow is excellent but things do get booked up in July and August. We are gradually improving the cottage. Additions not seen in the pictures include a new hob and oven, and a tumble dryer in the shed. Please note if you have a pacemaker the hob is an induction type system. More
