Certain pets welcome but please contact me prior to booking to confirm the house will be adequate for your needs. Free visit planning services (want to live like a local? Visit like a local? Ask me!) -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Enjoy Yucatán's cultural and natural beauty while based in our home in Mérida's historic center. Refreshing pool, lovely yard with hammocks, a kitchen with plenty of amenities. This beautiful home offers all amenities needed to enjoy a wonderful stay, short- or long-term. The house offers original pasta floors throughout, a bright living room, a modern eat-in kitchen with a large island, a bedroom with its en-suite bathroom (which also opens onto the outdoors patio so that you need not re-enter the house when enjoying the outdoors), a covered patio and a beautiful and unique terraza-garden with a pool, (more) hammocks and a café set for lazy mornings or relaxing lunch and diners. Metzli means Moon in Nahuatl, and the house has been custom-designed with many details that illustrate the theme. Note: 3rd adult is an extra $10/night while we accept up to 2 children 17 or under free of charge. Unfortunately, we do not accept pets. Inside the house: The bedroom offers a comfortable king-sized bed with a pillow-top mattress, a beautiful mural painted by a local artist, plenty of storage and a desk. The room is air-conditioned, and contains a powerful yet silent ceiling fan. The bathroom is fitted with a walk-in shower which offers full privacy while letting the light from the garden flood into the room. Enjoy hand-painted murals and a conch shell faucet, from a conch fished in the Gulf of Mexico by local fishermen in Telchac Puerto! You will have access to a well-appointed kitchen with a gas stove, 14-cubic foot fridge, microwave, coffee machine, several blenders, quality silverware, etc... The living room includes a pillow-top sofa bed, a flat screen TV with DVD player and a (small but we are adding to it) library (we are avid readers; feel free to take a book or leave a book). Outside of the house: A covered patio fitted with a beautiful wrought iron gate and café set (all designed by me, the owner), hammocks and plants leads to a garden area with a refreshing pool, (more) hammocks and a dining table and chairs. Leaving the house: You will be able to walk (10 to 15 minutes) or take the bus (3 to 5 min) to the center of town, where museums, colorful and flavorful markets, shops and restaurants await. During the day, visit the colonial city, grab a local bus to the beach, archeological sites, cenotes or colonial towns and villages that bless the Yucateco landscape and come back in the evening to the nightly (and mostly free) entertainment offered by the city of Mérida on the Zócalo and other parks. House Rules: We love to stay at Casa Metzli with our children and our family has allergies to smoke, therefore we request that there be absolutely *NO* smoking (or drugging of any kind) in our home, both indoors and outdoors. Thank you for keeping to this rule. You may know that in Mexico, most septic systems are not equipped to handle much anything, and we ask you to kindly use the bins provided and not throw anything in the toilet. With trash services available 3 times a week, simply drop your refuse in a plastic bag by the side of the house and it will be collected (Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday service). We are nature-minded, and as such we pay attention to the potential waste of electricity and water, as they impact our natural resources. We ask you to consider helping with these conservation efforts. Our local agent will take a reading of the meter as you receive and return the key. Any usage outside of the ordinary will be charged against your deposit. Please note that rentals longer than 14 nights require that you pay for electricity, while rentals longer than one month require that you take on electrical and gas costs. Thank you so much for abiding by these simple rules. We appreciate it! (As does Mother Nature whom you do not pollute more than needed.) Check-in time: 30-minute window between 1 pm and 8 pm If you arrive after the agreed-upon time, you will need to obtain the key at my friend's business/home located 3.5 blocks away. Thank you for your consideration. Check-out time: Any time before noon, please. Do not hesitate to contact me with any question about the area and the wonderful visits that you can enjoy. I will be delighted to create an itinerary with you that corresponds to your interests. More

About the neighbourhood
Living in Casa Metzli, you will have the convenience of being near the heart of the city, while enjoying the authenticity offered by side streets. A couple doors down, you will find a little tendejón, a mom and pop little store. You will be amazed at what you can find there! There is a gym located 1 block from the house. Feel free to ask us about schedules and costs! Our children go to school when we visit! If you wish to sign yours up for 2 weeks or more, feel free to ask us how to do so. We are on the same block as a private school. Mérida's main market and Cathedral are about a 3-minute bus ride, or a 10-minute walk. Buses to and from the center stop within 50 meters/150 yards of the house, and the ride is 7 pesos per adult.
How to get there
How to get to Casa Metzli: Depending on where you are visiting us from, you might choose to fly to Mérida (airport code MER) or Cancún (CUN). From MER: 1. Simply take a cab to Casa Metzli, and plan on about 20 minutes (traffic dependent); or 2. Rent a car at the airport and drive to the house (we will provide you with a map and directions upon request). From CUN: 1. You may choose to rent a car at the airport and drive the toll road to the house. This is an easy and safe 3-hour drive, and we will provide you with a map and directions upon request; or 2. (What we do) You may buy a ticket at the ADO counter within the International Arrivals Terminal at the airport and get on an air-conditioned bus to Mérida. You can then take a taxi to the house. We will provide you with details and costs...
