About the neighbourhood
Tanygrisiau is a small welsh village in the heart of Snowdonia. Welsh for ‘below the steps. This area is well-known for its slate quarries, especially near Blaenau Ffestiniog, but don’t let the thought of slate quarries put you off. Tanygrisiau is nestled on the lower slopes of the Moelwyn Mountains. There is a wonderful panoramic view of the mountain-side to the north of the village. The region supports many adventure sports such as canoeing, mountain biking, family cycling, white-water rafting, abseiling, hill walking, navigation skills, gorge walking and canyoning and near the coast – windsurfing and surfing. These are within a 30-minute drive.
