About the neighbourhood

Puerto Plata (Spanish translation 'Silver Port') was discovered in the early 1500s by Christopher Columbus. The city and port area, San Felipe de Puerto Plata, are located at the northern coast of the island of Hispaniola, now known as the Dominican Republic (Republica Dominicana).
