About the neighbourhood

The first houses in Julianadorp were built in 1928. Account was taken of tropical construction for instance, the wind was decisive for the direction shifted to any home. Julianadorp was then known as the Shell district. The houses were built for employees and directors of the Shell refinery. At that time the area was closed off with barriers. Julianadorp has approximately 350 homes. The visit of Queen Juliana of Curacao Julianadorp got in 1955 officially its name and the plaque on the monument was unveiled in the school by the Queen.
