We will show you to the Barn and give you the keys and explain everything you need to know including our little map of all our local pubs and restaurants, and if you are bringing your dog/s companion, we can tell you about local walks. Great place to stay, clean, tidy and Mary made us very welcome and greeted us when we arrived, but we were left to ourselves after that. Orchard Barn is central for visiting Devon and Cornwall,so there was plenty to do, the boys loved the walks...More

The Tamar Barn has the most far reaching views of the Tamar Valley countryside and the Devon Ten Tors. The Tamar Valley visitor centre and archive is located within a short walks distance. pubs around here welcome dogs in the bar.The world famous Tamar Valley Railway from Gunnislake Station to Plymouth is at the end of the carriage drive and passes over Calstock Viaduct. You can also enjoy a fabulous journey back from Plymouth to Calstock Quay, a perfectly charming riverside community, by taking the river boat from Plymouth.

Gunnislake train station takes you straight to Plymouth on one of the most scenic railways in the South West. You can even get directly to Penzance if you catch the right train or head off to Exeter. There is an excellent bus service to Tavistock our local historic stannary town and also to Calstock our beautiful village on the Tamar River.

You can either reach Gunnislake from M5, A30 (Sourton Services and Little Chef), A386 and A390, through the wonderful Devon market town of Tavistock, with it's 900 year old Pannier Market, and excellent cafes and restaurants or via the A38 by crossing the Tamar Tollbridge (£1.50) from which you can view Brunel's famous railway bridge or perhaps take a diversion into the historic naval city of Plymouth to visit the famous Barbican, Hoe and historic waterfront. The cheapest fuel in the area is at the Sainsbury's off the main junction into Plymouth City.
