Villa
Villa Rosa is an 18th century farmhouse which has been restored by Sophie and Luca to a high standard into a beautiful home. The Villa is situated in the hills of Northern Tuscany, in a region called Lunigiana, a land rich of history, culture and culinary traditions. It is in a small hamlet called Spicciano in which the 'real Italy' so rarely seen now on the regular tourist trail can be experienced. Surrounded by olive groves, grape vines and apple orchards, it is the Italy people dream about. Spicciano has a population of c.40 people, there are no shops and the only sounds to be heard are of the locals and the cattle coming off the fields. About the neighbourhood
Villa Rosa is set in the small hamlet of Spicciano, inhabited mainly by locals, who are very friendly and still work the land around the little village. From the Villa there are some pleasant walks through woodland and olive groves. Fivizzano, the nearest town, is only 5 minutes away by car or 30 minutes on foot. The town became part of the Republic of Florence in the 15th century thus gaining the Tuscan republic an important foothold in Lunigiana, a key region which Genoa, Lucca, Pisa, Milan and Florence had sought to dominate since the early Middle Ages. It is also known as 'The Florence of Lunigiana' because of historical economic, cultural and political links with Florence.
