Wakedon cottage sits in private grounds at the end of a long driveway. It is surrounded by open countryside and overlooks the softly wooded Derwent Valley. All the rooms are situated on the ground floor and each bedroom has en-suite facilities. The lounge-diner is light and airy with stable style doors to the garden. The kitchen and breakfast bar is equipped with dishwasher, washing machine, tumble drier, fridge, microwave, etc. Both bedrooms have en-suite facilities. This is a secluded cottage, sitting far from any public footpaths or roads. However, should you need assistance, the owners B&B is just out of sight, and only 70 metres away. On arrival we will introduce you to the cottage, and its facilities. We will also tell you a bout shops pubs, places to eat, and tourist attractions in the area. We are usually available and reside only a hundred yards way. Other than that we make every effort to ensure guests have quiet and privacy,

A warm, cosy cottage, hidden among the trees and very private. Everything provided that you could need. Very easy booking arrangements from Australia and Keith was extremely proficient to deal with. Very highly recommended

We were made very welcome by Keith. Cottage was very clean and tidy and had everything you might need. We sat outside in the garden when it didn't rain. Take the short walk across the road to see the views. If you want to walk to the village there is a good path along the roadside. We would recommend this...

In the immediate area you have a choice of many museums, and everywhere there are many remnants of the industrial revolution. Within a short distance are:- The National Tramway Museum, The Cromford Canal, Leawood and Middleton Pumping and Hauling engines, Cromford Mill, Masson Mill, Belper Mill. Then there are the lovely villages of Crich, Matlock Bath, Cromford, Wirksworth and Belper. After that there are several steam railways with 5 miles, or simply hire a rowboat from Belper River Gardens, (take a picnic if you want to enjoy a long slow trip up river).

From Crich Market Place head towards the village of Whatstandwell and after about 1km Penrose will be on your right. Go down the drive to Penrose and collect the keys. The cottage will then be about 100metres further down its private drive.
