This traditional Japanese style house is built in 1924 and is officially certificated as Kyo-Machiya by Kyoto city ( H30-009). The house is located in a quiet residential neighborhood and is in close proximity to Shinnyo-do temple. It is situated on a charming path within walking distance of numerous temples, including Ginkakuji, Nanzenji, Eikando, Heian Shrine and the Philosophers Path. Long term stays are also very welcome with a special rates available. The house looks out onto a traditional Japanese garden and has been recently renovated and, with an interior designer's eye, is furnished to a high standard in a stunning blend of Japanese antiques and modern amenities. The floor heating is available in the kitchen and the bathroom area. What a fantastic experience our family enjoyed. The house really is a traditional Japanese home and had plenty of character and ambiance of its own. The local Philosopher’s walk and temples were truely beautiful and inspirational .The local small Family run restaurants and Sake bars...More

The area is in the east of the city and is residential and quiet but in close walking distance to the junction of Shirakawa-street and Imadegawa-street, where there are restaurants, cafes, supermarkets and convenience stores. To get away from city streets, nearby Mount Daimonji offers hiking trails and views over Kyoto. There are ample bus routes leading to all parts of the city (nearest bus route is 3 minutes walk). Many tourist sites are accessible on foot or by rented bicycle (recommended).
