Farmhouse
Jacks Country House is a beautiful 100 year old country farmhouse restored to its former glory located in the stunning south west of Ireland. Nestled at the base of the Sliabh Mish Mountains and overlooking Dingle Peninsula, it is ideal for a quite getaway yet still located near to local shops, bars and restaurants.
It is ideal for those that enjoy the tranquility of the Irish countryside with hiking trails, fishing and equestrian sports nearby. The stunning Inch Beach is situated 20 mins drive away where the film 'Ryans Daughter' was filmed.
Ideally situated on the Dingle Peninsula, it is the perfect location to tour the County of Kerry, with the towns of Tralee, Killarney and Dingle all within 45 minutes drive away.

Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.
If you have submitted a review for a holiday rental property, we may also ask that you provide us with proof of your stay to ensure that your review is attached to the correct rental property.
Holiday rental reviews collected via the VRBO website (formerly Homeaway) and syndicated to the Tripadvisor website are not currently subject to Tripadvisor’s standard moderation processes.

Escape to the Kingdom
Just back from a week at Jack's Country Cottage.
It has it all - a quiet location with plenty of entertainment for 2 teens, country walks and fabulous views. Killorglin, Kenmare, Killarney, Tralee, Inch beach and the Ring are on your doorstep. Excellent dining close by, our thanks in particular to Griffin's Bar for the comfy blankets on a cool evening for outdoor dining. And our wonderful host Helen thought of everything - comfy beds, tea, coffee, breakfast cereal and fuel for the fire.
I would have no hesitation in recommening this home and the area to anyone 💞

Kerry stay
Loved our stay in kerry, scenic location nice and quiet countryside with a sea view and great walking tracks around. Located just on the dingle peninsula, close to killarney and only 40mins to dingle. Loads to see and no when the weather's good!

Beautifully Restored Farmhouse, Central Location, Amazing Views.
Jacks Country Farmhouse is a beautifully restored Farmhouse. Modern Times meets Old Ireland in this superb setting, run by the fantastic Helen and her family. Beautiful Views out over Castlemaine Harbour and further down the Penninsula to the front, and the Sliabh Mish Mountains to the side and rear. Very central Location for Dingle, Tralee and Killarney and not too far a drive from any of them. Inch Beach is but a short drive away. Local shops and restaurants are within a short driving distance. This family friendly house is spotless clean, has a Large Spacious well equipped Kitchen/Dining room with all amenities contained within and in the adjacent Utility Room, 2 large living/lounge area's with TV's, entrance hall and toilet/shower room downstairs, 4 beautiful, comfortable bedrooms upstairs (1 with en-suite) provide plenty of space for all guests. Strong 4G Signal. Child friendly house with some games/toys/dvd's/books etc for to keep the kids occupied. Would highly recommend this property and will return again to stay. Our hostess Helen was very welcoming and flexible with us to ensure our comfort during our stay and was so helpful to us after we left, when we discovered one of the smallies had left his precious wallet behind. She came to our rescue by locating forgotten wallet and ensuring it found its way back to us. Thank you Helen. We enjoyed our time at Jack's, and will return.

Great place with fantastic views
The house was perfect for our needs. The house was great and plenty of space for 5 adults. The location was also good for seeing local sites in the area.

A secluded house but with all comfort you need
The house lies on a slope so that you have fantastic views over the landscape down to Castlemaine Harbour which in fact is just a natural bay. The kitchen is really spacious and well equipped and there are four bedrooms and two living rooms, offering more than enough space for our family of six. A drawback is the absence of WiFi in the house but the mobile data signal is strong enough.
The location is quite remote, so without a car (or at least a bicycle) you would be lost. Shops are within driving distance only and the famous Inch Beach is some 14 km away. You would need a car anyway to individually travel around Dingle peninsula which is really a great coastal drive. We had some bad luck with weather during our stay, meaning only one day pure sunshine and clear sky so we decided to travel around Dingle peninsula only, including crossing Connor Pass, instead of doing the long 180 km Ring of Kerry. Without knowing the latter I guess the impressions and views of the Dingle tour are more than enough breathtaking.

Great place to stay
This was a great place to stay while on vacation. They did a great job restoring it and having that country farmhouse feeling. We only stayed for a few nights, I feel this would be a great place to stay for a a week or two. There are hiking paths and a lot of nature to see.

Thank you Matthew for your review and kind comments. We are delighted that you liked the house, it was a labour of love for my father to restore it to its former glory over 100 years later.

About the neighbourhood
The Dingle Peninsula has the most rugged coastline in Ireland and is scattered with beautiful vistas of beaches and mountains. The little village of Castlemaine with its pubs and songs of the The Wild Colonial Boy start the begining of the peninsula.
The parish of Keel where the property is located has many walks and you can fish, horse ride, archery and visit farms in the area.
It has a quaint little church called St Gobnaits in the main village Boolteens. It is the ideal location to visit the rest of Kerry, situated centrally in County Kerry.
Further west, a great deal of traditional Irish heritage is maintained in this Irish-speaking (Gaelic) region (a Gaeltacht), including traditional music art and crafts. Considered by many to have some of Europe's most spectacular scenery, the peninsula also supports both a rare and unique assortment of flora and fauna.
The area is suited to cycling enthusiasts and hill walking with the Sliabh Mountain range located behind the property. Visits to the world famous town of Killarney is a must with the spectacular Lakes of Killarney and to the shopping town of Tralee.
Dingle has to be on the trip with fish restuarants galore and a trip out to see Fungi the friendly dolphin.
How to get there
Keel, Castlemaine is very central in Kerry to visit all the sites, one of the main advantages of being located here. Its near to transport links and you can hire a car at the airport and be at Jacks Country House in 15 minutes!!
From Castlemaine, travel to Boolteens village. Pass Castledrum National School on the right side and come to a cross roads ( Google Maps- White gate crossroads) approx 1/4 mile away. After the school, you will only travel 1/ 4 mile. You will see sign for Old Keel Graveyard and Philip Griffin Motors). Turn right at the cross roads between the 2 yellow houses and you should have the mountain in front of you. Continue straight up the hill until you come to a Y junction, veer left, follow road up the hill until you almost at the T junction. ( there is a rough dirt road in front of you). The house is located on the left side. There are 2 iron gates at the front and the house is a two storey.
