About the neighbourhood
Our nearest village is Marybank, some 2 miles west of Druimorrin. This is a small, rural community, home to the local primary school, the Balloan House pub and B&B and the Fairburn Memorial Hall which houses a sub-post office two mornings a week. Most of the facilities for visitors are in Muir of Ord, 2.5 miles to the east of Druimorrin, Beauly, just beyond the Muir, 4 miles away or in the county town of Dingwall, 7 miles away. This is an historic area with atmospheric buildings around almost every corner and traditions galore. With the peaceful surroundings, you might be forgiven for thinking the area is remote, but supermarket shopping in Dingwall includes Lidl and 24-hour Tesco and even closer, Muir of Ord has the Scottish Co-Op, general grocer and filling station. We are about 20 minutes' drive from Inverness, the 'capital of the Highlands'. If you are driving, just stay on the A9 north over the Kessock Bridge until you reach the Tore Roundabout and take the first exit to the west. Be aware that ours is a large postcode area, so if you are using a sat nav, keep an eye out for our blue sign, just as the road rises to the bridge over the Orrin. If in doubt, give us a call!
