We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Barn House Mews. The cottage seems larger than the online photos portray while still having a warm and cosy feel to the place. As a family of five, plus a dog, we found there was enough space and everything...More

This is a lovely place to stay. The rental is tremendous value for money - very clean and quiet. The village has many nice walks and is a great location for visiting nearby towns - Richmond, Bernard Castle, Bowes museum, Darlington...............
Dog friendly. Highly recommended.
The village of Gainford with its beautiful tree-lined village green on the banks of the river Tees is ideal for walkers (the Teesdale Way passes the house door),and also fishermen and lovers of the countryside. It is halfway between Darlington with its excellent shopping and leisure facilities and Barnard Castle with its castle ruins, antique shops and the unique Bowes Museum. It also has excellent road (A1,A66), rail (Darlington station 8miles) and air (DTVA 11 miles) connections. A regular bus route passes through the village. It also makes an excellent touring centre for the region: the Lakes, Gateshead Metro Centre, Hadrian's Wall, Beamish Museum and the Dales are all within easy reach.
