Set in woodland with stunning views from every window, the vineyards of Gigondas, Vacqueyras and Beaumes de Venise encircle the chateau. This property and its lovely gardens have plenty of space for groups of family or friends to have fun together in a very private setting.
The house has been renovated to a high standard and is just waiting to be enjoyed. The pool terrace and barbecue are always favourites and there are some lovely spots around the garden, inviting a pause to enjoy the view.
The full time caretaker on site looks after pool and grounds, so there is always someone on hand if you have any questions.
The village of Vacqueyras is exactly a mile away, with a baker, butcher, pharmacy, newsagent, greengrocer, small weekly market and a good restaurant. There is a larger supermarket just 5 miles/8km away. For wine-lovers, the local winemakers of the Cotes du Rhone Villages are waiting to offer you a tasting of their fine wines.
This place is perfect for those who like to stay in one place and relax for a change on holiday.
For those who like to get out and about a bit more, the vast Provencal markets of Vaison la Romaine and Carpentras are a great way to spend a morning shopping for produce and souvenirs. There are no fewer than three Unesco World Heritage Sites - The Pont du Gard, the Roman Amphitheatre in Orange, and the Palais des Papes in Avignon - within an hour's drive. And in summer, the festivals of Avignon (theatre and comedy), Orange (music) and Vaison (dance) are not to be missed. There are many other magnificent sights to see in Provence and lots more information available in the Villa Theophile welcome book.More

There is always someone - usually the owner - to offer you a warm welcome on arrival at Villa Theophile, and a resident caretaker to look after the pool and grounds. He can also undertake any additional cleaning you may wish for during your stay (there is a cost for this service).
The Villa Theophille looks wonderful on the Trip Advisor photos - it is better in real life. It's difficult to gauge the ambience and the size from photos. The Villa is beautifully appointed and maintained. The pool and surrounding areas are perfect for families -...More

A stunning place. Elegant, stylish and very comfortable accommodation. Delightful, peaceful grounds and lovely pool. Phillipa is a superb hostess, we were made very welcome.
A wonderful week with superb accommodation, gardens and facilities all maintained to a very high standard.
A great location for both sightseeing and doing nothing relaxing around the pool.
Can't wait to come back!
The closest village, Vacqueyras, is within easy walking distance and has a good cafe/restaurant as well as a baker, butcher, pharmacy and post office. The local vignerons all offer tastings and Rhonea, the local wine co-operative, is excellent. Vacqueyras celebrates its wines each year on 13 and 14 July at the Fete des Vins.
Walks into the Dentelles de Montmirail are very popular, as are cycle rides. There are tennis courts in Vacqueyras (1.5km), cycle hire in Beaumes de Venise (5km), and horse riding in Aubignan (5km). Wave Island - the biggest water park in France, with surfing waves and giant waterslides is in Monteux and there is a beach at the nearby Lac de Monteux (19km). The nearest golf course is in Orange (18km).
Getting around
Public transport is in short supply but there are regular buses to take you to Carpentras and some of the nearby villages. Vacqueyras, the nearest village, is accessible on foot. If you have guests arriving by train, and are short of time to pick them up at Avignon, there is a spur line that runs to Carpentras; the nearest station at Monteux is just 20 minutes away by car.
