Ferndale provides comfortable studio accommodation for one or two people and is ideal for anyone who is looking for a quiet space in a wonderful part of Scotland or who wants to take advantage of the many outdoor pursuits the region has to offer.
The self-contained studio cottage has a spacious maple-floored room with a full length picture window which has views to the garden, the historic churchyard and the hills. Please note there is no separate bedroom.

About the neighbourhood
The village of Durisdeer lies above the Carron Water and at the feet of the Lowther Hills in the tranquil and beautiful area of Nithsdale.
Here the River Nith cuts a wide and dramatic path through the hills on its journey to the Solway and is a haven for fishermen, field sport enthusiasts, hill walkers, mountain bikers or anyone wishing to get away for some peace and quiet in an inspirational setting.
The village itself forms part of the Buccleuch and Queensberry duchy and is dominated by an ancient parish church built in 1720.
Inside the churchyard is the last resting place of several prominent Covenanters, and includes the Marty's grave of Daniel McMichael, shot dead in 1665 for 'praying unto God and not to men'.

From Glasgow Airport: Take the M8 southbound to Junction 8 and turn off for Carlile (M73, M74). Join the M74 southbound until Junction 14, A702 Crawford, Thornhill. The road to Thornhill winds and bends up into the Lowther hills through The Dalveen Pass and includes some stunning, dramatic scenery which would not be out of place in the Western Highlands. Turn left at Durisdeer Mill and a few metres from the ford in the road, at the road end, turn left and follow the small road to the right of the churchyard to the end.
From the M6: At Junction 26 turn off for the A75 and follow the signs for Dumfries. In Dumfries at the first roundabout, follow the signs for A76 Kilmarnock. On the A76, go through the village of Thornhill to Carronbridge. Turn right at Carronbridge for the A702 Dalveen. Fol...
