Holiday Rental House
The Rash is a wonderful home from home, with a spacious living room, and multi-fuel stove, all fuel included. What was once an attached cowhouse is now a beautiful galleried dining room, exremely roomy, with lovely long dining table and another multi-fuel stove (as well as central heating from a biomass boiler). The house is reached up a track 120m from the road (the track is a bit rough, but most cars manage it fine) and is detached, with amazing views all around (and no neighbours), postcode is DL11 6QJ. There is a downstairs shower room (with WC and basin), and a downstairs cloakroom off the dining room. Upstairs in the farmhouse end are the master bedroom, which is usually set up as superking, but can be set up as a twin, if necessary, a double bedroom, a twin bedroom and a single bed...The Rash is a wonderful home from home, with a spacious living room, and multi-fuel stove, all fuel included. Along the landing, above the dining room, is another double bedroom. All bedrooms have high-quality Egyptian cotton bedlinen, fluffy towels and views over the surrounding hills, meadows and pasture. The cottage was recently refurbished, to a high standard, and is spacious enough to accommodate 9 people with ease. The kitchen is very well-equipped, and has a range cooker, full-size fridge/freezer and dishwasher, with a washing machine and tumble dryer in a utility room. There is even the original pantry, with stone flags and stone shelves, perfect for keeping drinks cool. Outside is a garden with lawned area, flagged patio (with chunky garden table) and hard-standing for car parking (up to four cars, although some manoeuvering might be required if you bring four cars). There is a little layby off the road at the bottom of the track where up to two cars can be parked if you wish, and another nearby layby for more cars. The walk up to the house is only 5 minutes, maximum. Free wifi, all fuel, bedlinen, towels, teatowels and cleaning equipment included. Sorry, PETS ARE NOT ALLOWED. Rash week bookings are (strictly) Friday to Friday. Short breaks are welcome off peak. Muker is a 10 minute walk from The Rash, where you can find village shop, tearoom, craft shop/gallery, Swaledale Woollens and the Farmer's Arms, with good food and beer. Swaledale itself is the most northerly of the Yorkshire Dales and is the most beautiful of all the Yorkshire Dales, with stunning scenery. The Rash is a perfect house for a fantastic get away from it all holiday, whether you want to walk the hills, cycle the hills (Muker was directly on the route of the 2014 Tour de France), or just relax and enjoy a quiet holiday, surrounded by sheep, birds and wildlife. Sleeps up to 9. Free wifi. Sorry, no dogs or smoking. Week bookings run (strictly) from Friday to Friday.More

Dear Michael So glad you had a good holiday, and liked The Rash. We strive to make the cottage as lovely as we possibly can, so it's great when guests appreciate it! Many thanks.

Great spot and we had a great time. The place is very tranquil and as advertised. Only downside is the return of the security deposit which we did not get back for some rather made up reasons. All in all though definitely worth going to...More

Very glad the cottage lived up to its description. The security deposit is taken to cover extra cleaning and maintenance etc. We expect the cottage will be left clean and tidy, although it will obviously need a full clean by the housekeeper to be ready...More

About the neighbourhood
Swaledale is the most northerly (and beautiful) of the Yorkshire Dales. Outstanding scenery for hiking/walking, but also for just enjoying the view. The 2014 Tour de France came through Muker, so it's ideal for keen cyclists. Walks direct from the door. Nearby Muker has pub, Swaledale Woollens, craftshop/gallery, tearoom and village shop. Towns nearby are Hawes, 8 miles, Leyburn, 18 miles and Richmond, 20 miles.
Getting around
A car is the best way to explore, although there is a local bus service up the dale.
